We started the Christmas celebrations on Sunday, December 19th at my mom's house for Navajo Taco's......yumm-o!! It was fun to be together and enjoy each other's company again.
How cute is the little LuBear in this picture?
We had all agreed that there would be no gift exchanging this year....well....my mother doesn't listen.
Look at all the beautiful quilts she let us pick from. They are all just gorgeous. She brought a big pile of quilts that she has made over the years, and were just sitting in her closet. She told us to each pick one from the oldest to the youngest.....I guess being the oldest has it's perks on days like this.
Gary is holding the quilt I picked out. I LOVE it. I told my mom that even though when she made this quilt it wasn't for me originally.....I feel as if she made if especially for me. It is sooooo me.
My sister Lora made a beeline for this quilt.

Ali went straight for this quilt, since Rick was next and he told her to pick....Amy had her eye on this one though....again it pays to be the oldest sometimes....lol
Heather went for the quilt that looked the warmest.....she definetly got the thickest, warmest quilt. I have cuddled down in it and it is wonderful. Good choice Heather.
Nicole was soooo happy that this quilt was still waiting to be claimed. She had her eyes on this one from the beginning. If you could see it all you would see the cute fabric that was used. It reminded Nicole of a 50's tablecloth, and I could totally see it. So they were happy with their quilt too.
Trevor was next and by that time all the big quilts were gone....sorry Trevor. He got a really nice, and very warm, smaller quilt. It has Christmasey fabric so we had it on the couch during Christmas and cuddled into it too.
My mom realized that all the big quilts were gone, and she went into her closet and found more bigger quilts. Trevor got a choice to switch, but decided to stick with the one he had. Amy then picked out this quilt, but still really wanted the quilt that Ali had already nabbed..... so, being the wonderful sister-in-law that she is....she let Amy have the quilt she picked and took the one Amy is holding up. Ahhhhh, such love!!!!
Even, the great grandkids got to pick a quilt out. This is the cute little butterfuly quilt Haylee picked. She put it to good use immediately.
1 thoughts to ponder from those I care about:
Thanks for writting the events of that night! What a great family I have! Now to restock my quilt closet. I already have a pattern in mind. The tree is down and all the Dec. put away for another year. Now to finish cleaning the house tomorrow.
